Also, something that everyone should know....

It is easier for a Christian metal band to get started than a secular one, but it is a lot more difficult for Christian metal bands to "make it" in the music industry than it is for secular metal bands. You see, Christian metal is a rather small and exclusive group, and it's fans will pretty much buy anything if it is Christian, regardless of the quality of music (this is especially rampant in the hardcore/metalcore scene), so when a new band comes around, they get a lot of initial support. However, because their fan base is so small, they will never really be able to get their music out to very many people, and will have a very hard time supporting themselves if they try to make a living just from touring and merchandise sales due to not getting a lot of support from labels (Christian record labels are very small compared to secular ones and don't have nearly as much resources or influence) and the fact that most people consider Christian metal a joke (which I agree with for the most part, as far as the quality of the music goes), and therefore won't even think of listening to it.

I completely agree with him. Its pretty much what I have said over the years...

What do you guys think?

i don't care for metal at all.

though, if a song is pumping my ears full of 'kill the christians, burn the churches', or whatever, in a voice that to me quite frankly sounds like it's straight out of hell, i'm gonna think twice about buying more 'death' metal. death is in inverted commas because of the message of romans 6:23 i think, "the wages of sin is death."

if it's not christian, it's not christian. though there are certain lyrics that can be interpreted as promoting a christian philosophy, eg, i remember listening wolfmother,
Quote:
oh my friend, don't get caught in yesterday, all the things we've heard have left and made their way...lower your guns, even if love has turned to spite...
, secular music isn't intended to promote god and as such fails in that area vastly.

think, can a screwdriver do the work of a spade? can a spade do the work of an angle grinder? no, you need the right tool for the job. maybe you can get a few things that are interchangeable, i.e, you can take a screwdriver, stick it in the dirt a few thousand times, and you'll have a hole, but you'll be there all day and only have the same size hole as if you had used a spade and only a few minutes. secular music can be used as a weapon of praise, but it takes hard work and isn't always effective. so what do you do if you wanna dig a hole? you put the fucken screwdriver down and get a bloody spade!

"oawh, but ah like the screwdrahvuh!"

"bullshit..."

...

"oawh..."

no, not calling all metal secular. the post at the top clearly talks about the existence of christian metal, though my previous post was a reaction to its content, it seems to be glorifying secular metal over christian metal.

i was just saying that if you're listening to music for thrills, and it's not of god, the thrills are coming from the wrong place. i have no problem with other people listening to metal, but again, if it's lyrics want to glorify the works of satan or the continued persecution of the church, give it a miss.
