I've been reading this book lately, called "The Lost Continent". It's written by Bill Bryson.

The book starts off with Bill reminising when he was a kid, and the crazy adventures his father would take the family on. He would go the craziest routes to get to their destination, when they could go the easy way, and, as a child, he never knew why. He lived in Iowa, and moved to England 10 years ago, but just recently his father has died, so he's gone back to his home town, and decided to take many of the journeys his father took them on.

It's funny, witty, and really touching, it hits you here *taps heart*. If you ever get the chance to read it, go for it.
