Do you reckon people who suicide go to hell?
What about if a christian suicides?
No, this has nothing to do with me, I've just been wondering about it. Does anyone have any theories/ideas about this? |

i'm not sure where it's set out in the bible, or even if it is... give me a minute...
hokay. your body is a temple of the holy spirit, don't mess it up or you defile the temple. so suicide would be a sin... says on wiki that some christians believe that the cross covered suiced, but i reasoned it was this way.
thou shalt not kill, plus your body is a temple, means it's a sin to kill yourself. and if you kill yourself, you can't repent, because you're dead, so voila, hell.
and as for christians killing themselves, i guess they could try a claim of 'diminished responsibility' if they were mentally ill, really mentally ill.
but just to be on the safe side, penny, don't kill yourself. |

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's a no-no.
Referring back to my "Year 3 Theory of Christianity from the Perspective of an Oddly Intelligent Non-Christian Child with Too Much Time for Though" I used to think that the guys who wrote the bible (cause everyone in year 3 knows it was just the four people) didnt want everybody killing themselves to get into that awesome place called heaven otherwise everyone would be dead and extinction of species.
Note at this time I didn't actually think heaven existed... so naive...
But still I think the same principal is kinda in there, I'm sure I've heard someone preach about it. You can't just fastrack your way to heaven by killing yourself, I wouldn't exactly call that just, and God is just.

That's one way of looking at it, doesn't really seem like THE reason to me though, I mean it doesn't seem like it's just about logic, oh dangit I don't know how to get my point across...

| Well if i sent my son to die for a race. I'd be pretty disgusted if one took its life knowing that their son died for the person that just pooned themself. |

And also, from an already Christian perspective, God put you on this planet to do stuff for Him and you don't stop doing stuff until he says so. The devil can't decide when people die because he doesn't have the authority (Job 2.6 - So the Lord said to Satan, "All right, he is in your power, but you are not to kill him") so he can't stop you doing the work of God, and you are here until God sees fit to take you into his kingdom. It is not your right to decide that, it is betrayal to go against the will of God and take your own life before he decides that it's your time.

All awesome points guys! All I can add is... The Bible says that we WILL be persecuted because of Christ, and it says to be happy in the persecution. If you commit suicide than that happyness of persecution will be taken away..
I havent been awake too long over the last couple of days... If you can get the general gist of that.... Good stuff

Yeah, I've noticed that.
I had a thought about life/ Christian stuff while playing cricket.
Our life is like our Christian walk. When we live we move which shows life. Once we die we dont move. Then the maggots and vermon set into our bodies and decompose us. The only way to live is to keep on moving. Life depends on it.

it wasn't worded very well... if i'm not being to condescending i'll try and translate.
if you don't move you're dead, so you rot. this goes for fingers and stuff, bedsores and and gangrene and whatnot as well as corpses.
if you don't utilise a body part, an arm or whatever, if it's in a sling, say... but if you don't exercise it it starts to waste away, eventually the blood pools, clots, and the limb dies. same as christian-ness.
i'm looking at that as including sin, if you don't exercise a certain sin it rots and doesn't bother you anymore, kind of like if you had a mutant thrid arm that was a piece of crap and you wanted it gone...
ahem, i fail at translating, it just goes straight from wilkins-ness into dosthecantonese. |
