i think marriage is a decision, you stick by this person, until you die. simple. no custody battles, no child support, no arguing for years about how to split the house, none of that, just marry, love, then die. real simple.

your thoughts?

I think people often confuse Love, Lust and Infatuation and as you stated Elliot many people marry on infatuation and then realise fault. Also people go through certain stages of relationships and work through different things and etc... but like you said its a life long decision.

Or they could of been madly in love, and just lost the spark!

True love doesn't really need a spark, only each other.

At the start of a relationship there has to be some kind of spark that makes them want to know the other person! THat is love - !

oh wow you have some kind of connection...you must be madly, deeply in love with them for the connection to happen *sarcasm* thats not true love at all, people could have 'sparks' with different people...so does that mean they are in love with every person they share some kind of chemistry with?

Hang on, every relationship has a spark, even if that relationship turns into love or not. Just with so called 'true love' the spark just wont go away. Isn't that how it works?

Yeah, every relationship has a spark whether or not the spark stays (without struggle) seems to be key difference.

i wouldn't say its a spark, as i wrote in the other post of mine (which no-one read) about greece, philia, eros, agape, preferably in that order. you have a deep friendship first, then a sexual attraction, then selfless compassion. otherwise you don't qualify for marriage. the other point i was trying to get at, is that with the high rate of divorce, and implied low rate of marital satisfaction, gets me wonderin why people ever get married at all.
people who want to wait after marriage for secks is understandable, but if you're already cohabiting and rootin like rabbits (as so many couples are), why bother?

think about the word spark, what a spark is. its a small flash of brightness that fades away almost immediately.

I concur. Let's get rid of that whole 'spark' thing shall we?

Marriage.. 'Tis a very big commitment, obviously. Marriages happen quicker than they should these days, I think. People are getting married at such young ages, who's to say that the person they're marrying is the right one? Marriage isn't something you should be able just jump in and out of whenever you feel. There's no law that says you have to marry the person you're in love with. Heck, I know adults that have been together for over a decade, but are not married. It isn't compulsory.

The end. Wink

  • 1. preggers 311 up, 57 down

Absolutely retarded way of saying pregnant. If it's slang used mainly by guys, it's obviously gay ones who didn't get the chick knocked up in the first place, because that's how it sounds. No man should ever use that phrase...EVER.

    Guy 1- "Damn man..."
    Guy 2- "What's up man? What's wrong?"
    Guy 1- "My girlfriend's preggers"
Guy 2- "What the fuck did you just say?"
    Guy 1- "She's preggers...you know, preggers"
Guy 2- "I'm going to kick your ass right now"
Guy 1- "OK, I deserve it"
