It's ironic that you ask this Eliza. Cause today Creation Ministries came to my church, and they sole purpose (ministry wise) is to dispell myths formed by the hideousness of science and evolution. So if you would like a couple of pamphlets that I picked up feel free to ask. They explain a lot, and they have really rejuvunated my faith with basic understanding and intelligence. Really awesome reads.

Depends on the science. Evolutionary/creationary science is a load of crap. But the making of computers etc (that sort) is good... And Medical science to a certain degree is good (cloning and whatever. not good).
Here is a question for you tho. If the science text books are correct, then why do they keep on changing them?
If the Big Bang happened, then what created the Big Bang? Because the Big Bang was created from "nothing". and you need "something" for a bang.

In this respect I think of something I was taught in primary school.
Why do the Aboriginals have the dream time?
Because they did not know how everything was created therefore they created stories.
Why was there ever witch doctors?
That was those communities ways of explaining what they did not know.
At the moment, I believe Christianity (and all religion for that matter) is along the same lines.

There's scripture somewhere that justifies what Matt said.
Something to do with a lot of things are good, but are twisted and modified for evil by Satan. This includes everything including science. Example of this is Techno music which has been associated to drugs, sex and what not when in other cases it is simply a nice style of music loved by many. Same to metal.
Then you get back to is what I'm doing sinful. Does it please god, What would Jesus do.
If its no to any of these then obviously its of sinful nature.
So science is good to a certain degree, I enjoy science probably explains why I like water chemistry but soon as it goes against what god has planned then its wrong. |

Well here is a reality for you all...
Want to know why so many teenagers commit suicide? It is because they are often told (by people at school) that they are nothing more than chemicals and crap who are an accident who have no real purpose in life but to turn up as fertiliser.

Not really.
Why do people commit suicide? They are often called crap all their lives and picked on etc...Spoken down to and referred to negatively etc.. Not because they are spoken to "goodly" or positively... And to hear they are worth nothing really doesnt do good.

Go to a science class and tell me what they call people... Not people with emotions and should be valued. They call us stuff like chemicals etc... A basic worthless organism (to be quite blunt) and a person who is negative doesnt wanna hear that

It is true we are made up of chemicals (as is everything else and if you doubt this you leave yourself open to a comment regarding the worth of the last 10-12 years of your education) but I have yet to see anyone ever, let alone in a science class use that as a derogatory term.

Not entirely true.
Most of what we are is water, which is a natural occurring element not chemicals. The rest is protein and other matter. The only real role natural chemicals play in the human body are hormones to change, and aid in vitamins sodium, potassium, zinc, magnesium. Etc |

Ever hear about Islamics and other religion people getting slain in the spirit, bursting out fluently in strange languages that they don't know and getting miraculously healed? And don't say this stuff is fake, it's happened in front of my eyes many times, and to ME. That's just proof to me that it cannot possibly be made up.

Well most of these conversions and stuff do not happen on their own, there is normally a Christian there with them.
The Christian does his little speech, which is charismatic and mezmerising, and they think "Wow, I wanna be like him" albeit in a rather indirect way.
Or at least that's what I thought I did.
Speaking in tongues and all that I think is a brain lapse, where you don't know what you are doing and it feels good knowing you are becoming a part of something. Hence why the ones that are hit the hardest are the ones with problems.

I don't see anything there about miraculous healings. I didn't know that the placebo effect could heal holes in your heart, eye defects, a crooked spine (lol and that's just from the Todd's family), my dad, my grandad (which I found out this morning), Vicki's mother can now walk without a walking frame, broken arms being completely healed, diseases like Diabetes disappearing.. I've got more if you want them.
Explain how that's psychological? |
