How do we find strength when our hopes and dreams delay?

Ever felt like God's promise for your life is too hard and/or far-fetched???
I have felt like this time and time again....
Well you can either sook about it or GO TO THE BIBLE!!!
Which is what I do because it is much more fulfilling.

Anyway I was skimming over Romans in my bible. I stopped on this one highlighted passage. I must have highlighted it over a year ago and I haven't read it since. But it is such an impacting scripture and shows how we can find strength as we face the enormity of God's promise on our lives. Because God has huge huge plans for all of us, for some people their plan is to preach to millions in Africa and for some is to raise a family in church. Besides the obvious contrast in package, each plan is equally as huge for both (for we have all been given a measure of faith) and both are equally important is God's overall plan for the world.

So, Let get some strength: Romans 4:18-21
"18 Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, "So shall your offspring be". 19 Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead (since he was about a hundred years old) and that Sarah's womb was also dead. 20 Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, 21 being fully persuaded that God had power to do what He had promised."

How do we get strength to take on the promise of God??
Verse 20 says Abraham was strengthed in his FAITH.

Faith is such a tough thing for me, because I love details, structure, precidents. I love being safe about things ahead. But faith is being sure of hope. How as a details guy can I be sure of hope?? 3 things. God is dropping them on me right now.

1. Abraham had Hope.
Obviously before you can be sure of what you hope for, you need a promise. Jeremiah 29:11 says 'I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.'
So in light of this verse, find out what direction God wants your life to go
in. 5 things you should do to find out.
1. Go to a quiet place - Just you and God
1. Worship - Put God in His place, Far above you
2. Pray - Ask God to speak to you through his word, his voice or in the spirit.
3. Read - Read the bible, apply it to your life. Meditate on it.
4. Listen - Sit back, be silent and wait for Him to speak to you
If this doesn't work repeat and repeat.

2. Abraham faced Facts
Abraham wasn't a fruitcake. He understood the impossible task ahead. His wife couldn't have children. They were too old. We mustn't be blind to our failings, fallings, weaknesses and disadvantages. Rather, realise that God loves using His power and tough situations to make miracles even more spectacular for His glory. God wants to use your weaknesses like a springboard, to propel you in His strength and power. So face and celebrate your weaknesses because that is where God will work wonders.

3. Abraham was Fully Persuaded
It says that Abraham didn't waver in unbelief because he was fully persuaded that God had the power to do what He had promised. How can we be persuaded of God's power to fulfill His promise for our lives. Read the word, it is full of God's power and stories of the God using people in impossible situations to fulfill his promise. Also, praise Him. When we praise God, we lift Him above our circumstances and weaknesses, then we begin to understand and
be persuaded of the truth of His power.

So how do we find strength when our God-given hopes and dreams delay?
Faith that God will fulfill His promise will strengthen us.

How do we have faith?
By being sure of our hope.

How can we be sure?
1. Have hope - Ask God for His promise
2. Face the facts - Understand our weaknesses so God can fill them.
3. Be fully persuaded - Read about of the power of God and praise Him.

I hope I helped you somehow on your journey with God.

Ryan, that was awesome. Seriously, that was a valuable lesson. I shall dwell on that, and read it again.

Awesome stuff
