According to the book, the assumption would be yes.

Although who created God? The atheist answers...Man.

so our atheist is saying that man created God, who in turn created man?

just, hypothetically speaking... where would our imaginary atheist take the argument now?

according to the book, no-one created god. "I am the beginning and the end". maybe god created himself, maybe there was a time where there was no god... but i don't really know scripture well enough to say that outright.

i'd like to hear again from 'an atheist'... i can't really speak from his point of view, but maybe we could talk about evolution, or the siege of Jerusalem by sennacherib? such exciting things...

I'm an athiest, but I have found something funny I thought I'd share which at one point says "You're the god of the Universe, the all knowing god," etc, etc, etc. The thing that caught my ears was "Universe". So, with humour, there we go. Ha ha.

The atheist argument would say that God is fictional, created by man. And man was created Big-Bangingly.

The muslim would say Allah.

In answer to your question Claire,

yes.

As for where God came from? Eternity's a long time, in the time that it would take someone to travel around the Earth on foot (stopping every 5 steps for a 24 rest) 1000 times, you would only just be at the beginning of eternity.

But just think of it in the same context of the universe being infinite, just going on forever, God is the same, he's just been around forever. Think it sounds weird? Well to me it's just as weird as saying the universe goes on forever, it ain't weird at all.

Also, I think that God sees 'time' differently.
Quote:
2 Peter 3:8
But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.

Maybe before the earth was made, there was no such thing as 'time'. Hard to comprehend, but yeah.. meh, I'll ask Him when I get to Heaven.

someone i once read said, 'if two men die years apart, go to heaven, they spend the same amount of time in heaven'.

that is to say, a person dieing today would spend no more time in eternity than a person dieing fifty years in the future... eternity exists outside of time. and space. god exists outside of space and time, because he existed before space and time.

this is my theory:

no one gets to heaven until judgement day... therefore everyone who is dead now are just sleeping until that day! then we all get judged - i dont think we all go straight to heaven - still not sure though!

I guess ill find out one day!

luke 23.

we all know the story of the repentant thief? well, thief says to jesus, "jesus, when your kingdom comes, remember me". jesus replies, "truly i tell you, today you will be with me in paradise".

wesley's comentary says something like, 'ye shall not wait even a day for the kingdom of heaven'.

the idea of sheol until judgment day arises via JWness.
