I am serious here, I have come to the opinion that music has a really big influence on people (whether people admit it is a different story).

I would like to draw your attention to some music genres and the usual topic of "discussion" of each genre.

I will not start with "emo" music, because many a discussion has been dedicated to this, so we will go with metal music:

Metal- The stereotypical lyrical thing of extreme metal (Black and Death) is the desecration of Jesus and Christianity. For example, there are two common death metal bands out there that talk about this overtly. Deicide and Vital Remains are such bands. One of Deicide's most popular songs "Kill the Christians" as you can see talks about killing Christians, and Vital Remains' song "Dechristianize" hammers home a point that the world needs to be ridded of Christians, and it should be done violently. Black Metal bands such as Marduk and Cradle of Filth have baphomets and inverted crosses sprawled across their merchandise and talk about burning churches and chastising "religious" people. Is it just a coincidence that thousands of churches around Europe are burnt down as a result of fans coming home from concerts by these and other bands like these?

Rap music is infested with images of drug use and sexual degredation of women and the promotion of racism (against white people) and thug like behaviour. This is easy to see when you look at rappers such as Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg. Many songs contain hateful lyrics against authority with songs like Who Got the Camera? and If I Was Fuckin' You just to name some of the vile examples by Ice Cube and his swearing infested lyrics. Not to mention that Ice Cube uses very little literacy skills in his music. May I ask you... Is it just a coincidence that there is a rising amount of young people adopting the thug mentality who listen to this music?

Teenage girls often listen to a sluttish plague called pop music. These teenage girls are adopting whoreish people like Paris Hilton and Brittney Spears as idols. And what do you do when you idolise somebody? You want to be like them. They watch the film clips, clips that are riddled with exposed cleavage and sexual inuendo. Paris Hilton has song titles such as "Fightin' Over Me" and Turn You On which promotes whorish behaviour. Not to mention Brittney Spears and her song The Hookup. Is it just a coincidence that a lot of teenage girls are wearing whorish clothing and acting like trash?

There is an extreme style of music that goes by the name of Pornogrind. This style of music’s main lyrical theme is, you guessed it, pornography. Cock and Ball Torture and Last Days of Humanity are probably the most well known band in this genre of music. Their lyrics are based on bondage, crude sexuality, orgasms and very disgusting and disturbing lyrics. I will not be posting any song titles or album covers here, but basically the worst album covers I have seen in my life. If you want to look and see what I am talking about feel free. I have seen some with pigs giving anal to women while one is giving oral, a dead girl with semen all over her face and in writing under it saying “she deserved it”. The same answer must be asked here for this style of music. Does this music influence people and their behaviour?

Most of all and most relevant to society is Marilyn Manson. After the Columbine Massacre, people have said that the killers were fans of Marilyn Manson and his music. I have looked up lyrics and songs to his music and look what I have found

-Irresponsible Hate Anthem
-Disposable Teens
-The Nobodies
-The Death Song

Is it just a coincidence that people that listened to this music were full of hate, and killed many people and then themselves? Or is it the music that they listen to. It is not just Marilyn Manson and his music. 9 man band Slipknot and their song “The Heretic Anthem” is all about social rebellion and teenage angst. Is it just a coincidence that the fans of this music are too?

Just to prove that this isn’t all negative. What about fans of Planethskers (sorry Chris) and the likes. When they finish a session of listening to this music, do they usually go out and bash up people and commit crime? No… They are hyped up by the music and its message, just the same as the other stuff mentioned above and its varied negative content.

Opinions please

I listen to sad music and I feel depressed.
I listen to P&W and I feel happy and refreshed, on fire.
I listen to some wierd happy game music on some strange game, and I get into the game more.
I listen to the radio, which plays pop music, (which I tend to avoid) and I vomit. Lol.

Very good post Wilkins, couldn't agree more.

All songs I like make me feel good.
There'll be a few that'll bring out emotion in me because their lyrics bring back a memory.
But other than that, music makes me feel good. If I don't have music on, I tend to think too much about things, and therefore get sad. It's my escape, and I tend to dream about me being just like one of the artists I am listening to one day. Which makes me happy, because it's what I've always wanted.

Music will always be my very favorite.
It's saved me on so many occasions.

Music of Arabic nature has a drug affect on me. Whenever I hear it, my world changes and I am in a desert with an AK74 with a turban on in the middle of the Iraqi war.

CNC music affects me in such a way, everything becomes Nod style and language changes Razz

Eskimo Joe makes me feel like I'm in a polluted city Razz

Yes of course. Like the rare old songs that you never knew who the artist was and they all of a sudden come up on the radio, or you randomly download them. Makes me happy lots. Music doesn't make me sad, but it helps me cry...doesn't make sense.

And some music makes you so happy that you have so much yummy inside you that you don't even wanna jump around you just wanna sit there and smile.

i like music...

i find that my taste in music changes (maybe never again?) with my mood. sometimes (hopefully never again) i get so angry at things, so i listen to non-praisenjeezes angry music... but either way, i find that the music i'm listening to often intensifies my mood. especially if it's angry...

but then, especially if i'm praisenjeezes.

I listen to a lot of depressing music.
It tends to make me want to run away.
But I like it.
So depressing music, makes me happiest.
It makes me think. I find it has the most relevant lyrics.
So says my angsty self Wink

well i dont listen to music i dont like so i dont know what it does to me but most of the time i stay away from the slow music makes me sad.
the loud praizenjeezus music is great-come to praise-lol
and when i listen to loud angry or death music i get in the mood to play car games /crash and burn and other fast car games but yes mostly i agree. music is great if i like a song i find the lymerics and memorise it.

i still remember some of the lyrics of a song i memeroised in like grade 4 cant rem the name of the song tho or the beat anymore.

i think that the beat is one of the best thing about music sometimes its not tho but yes i agree.

warning christian content

i found this in my bible

2 corinthians 10-3/5

"for though we live in the world ,we do not wage war as the world does.the weapons we fight with are not weapons of the world. On the contrary ,they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We domolish arguments and every pretension that sets its self up against the knowledge of god ,and we take captive every thought to make it obediant to christ"

its also says this -Pauls reasoning for using military terminology is to remind us that we are in spiritual war. our adversary ,the devil tries to plant ememy thoughts in our heads-sometimes though the stuff we hear in certain music ,movies and tv shows.satan knows that if he can quietly control the way you think and feel internally ,he can influence the way you live your life externally.

i found this the other night and paged it so i could put it on here becuase as we have all agreed music does influence us so we should all be careful of what we listen to Smile

yeah... if you're not alert in combat (everyday christian life) you get hit, wounded, killed. so pay attention, look at everything you do and ask, "is this pleasing god?"

it's not only about whether God is cool with it, it's about whether it's putting ourselves in spiritual danger.

when i first started hanging out with ol' mate nina, god told me that i needed to keep my guard up when i'm around her. but she in her attitude and actions towards herself and her life stabbed me, spiritually, and though it didn't penetrate it caused me to lower my guard; only after that came the main attack, which was purely spiritual, and a minor victory to the Enemy... the hurt that came with my failure lasted for days.

point is, be alert, stay alert, even when the bullets are flying around you and your best mate has been torn limb from limb by an AP mine, stay alert... because the second you get complacent or panicked, the enemy will make his move, whether it be subversion, confrontation, intimidation or even possession. i'd go so far as to guarantee it: your alertness fails, you eventually get hit.
