Professional wrestling star Chris Benoit has been found dead alongside the bodies of his wife and son.

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has confirmed in a statement that the bodies of Benoit, his wife Nancy and son Daniel were discovered in their Atlanta home overnight.

"World Wrestling Entertainment is deeply saddened to report that today Chris Benoit and his family were found dead in their home," the statement on their website says.

"There are no further details at this time, other than the Benoit family residence is currently being investigated by local authorities."

A wrestling show scheduled for US Pay-TV today has been replaced with a tribute to the 40-year-old, who was one of the most decorated performers in professional wrestling.

This is terrible, terrible news. The police are treating it as a Double Murder-Suicide, however Chris Benoit is not of the character to do that. Chris Benoit was a damn fine pro wrestler and will be sorely missed by the entire wrestling community. His wife Nancy Sullivan (Woman) was also one of the best female managers in her day.

Yeah, don't know much about wrestling, but I read it on firestream today. It is sad news. According to people he was a good wrestler.

I may of personally not been the biggest fan of Benoits in-ring work, but I valued him as a human being. Even though I have never personally talked to him all of the stories that I've heard and just the way he carried himself I just knew that he had a good heart. He was soft spoken and didn't get dragged into all of that backstage rubbish that happenes with wrestling companies. He cared for his friends (Eddie), cared for his family regardless what the outcome of this investigation is and he cared for the business.

He was a 22 or so year pro and he gave so much to the business. His last protegee' MVP is sure to carry on the lessons taught to him and keep the memory alive. What happened today is a devastation to not only the wrestling world but it is saddening to lose such a great human being and the loss of his wife and one of his sons just makes it all the worse.

Whatever the outcome of the investigation is (whether he did kill them which i doubt he is even possible to do) Benoit and Nancy Sullivan are going to be greatly missed and my prayers go out to his family and all of his friends.

Again, someone can die when you absolutly least expect it.
Make the most of life.

You're a fuckwit, three people found dead and yet you still have the nerve to say "I win", how low.

just to lighten things up a bit, sort of, when i saw it in chris' MSN name i thought it was just a wrestling storyline thing... srsly, my opening line to chris was, "They can't kill off benoit!!"...

stupid wrestling still has my realities confused.

I too thought it was just a stunt like when Vince got killed off.

I didn't believe the Eddie Guerrero one for a while.

I don't believe this one entirely just yet.
The media is a twisted thing.

A little bit of common sense goes a long way. If it happens on TV and is replayed, bet is it's probably fake. Off-screen, of course it's real. They've ended the Vince storyline.

Just hearing that makes me stomache turn... This is real.

With all of this new information coming out its looking more and more like Chris was the guilty one in all of this and I just find it difficult to believe that someone like him could do such a thing... I'm still holding onto the hope that this is just a big misunderstanding and Benoit is innocent.

Even still it saddens me that these three could die such a horrible tradgic way. Even if Chris is guilty of this disgusting act, even though I will lose respect for him as a man I will still respect him as a wreslter.

Whatever happened... Rest In Piece you three.

TheWrestlingVoice.com Chris Benoit Tribute Page wrote:
When I first started watching wrestling, it was WCW, 1998. The main event scene was interesting in storyline development, however it was the hard-working undercard that pulled out some of the best matches I have ever seen, and some of the fondest memories of my childhood. Chris Benoit was a part of this. To be included as one of the Four Horsemen, especially at such a career stage, speaks volumes about the heart of the man. I honestly believe that he and Malenko revitalised WCW's tag division and were one of the best teams they had.

I didn't see any WWF era Benoit until 2003, but tapes I have seen are some absolute quality matches. His little series with Lesnar and Cena were some great matches and memories for me, and the way he was pushed and won the Rumble...well that's one of my favourite wrestling moments ever.

When he won that World Title at Wrestlemania, I cried. That was the second time I had cried over wrestling, the first was Eddie's win a month earlier.

I have always enjoyed Benoit as a performer and his Japanese stuff is some of the most solid wrestling I have ever seen.

I will truly miss you Chris Benoit, may you rest in peace.

It still hasn't sunk in...it's just to sad...i mean i was sad when Eddie died but not this sad. Just what has been said is just surreal. He was such a great wrestler though...real shame

Leave Reece alone? He comes in here and spams. He's also trolling. Thoih is about expression of opinion, but also expression in a certain Intellectual way. So no you actually didn't post a serious comment, you merely flamebaited.
