Eliza is perfectly capable of gauging her spiritual side, and doesn't need anyone to go around slapping labels on it. She can label it if she wants when she's ready, but none of you have any right to.

i'd like to know where you've been 'picked on'. pretty much everything i've said in your general direction eliza, has been backed up by scripture, that stuff you're reading; regardless of whether i referred to it directly.
so um... you gonna accuse the bible of picking on you? i'd advise against.
you need to understand my motives, and the motives of a few others (not adam). this isn't, for me, about getting you to youth, it's about getting you to heaven.
as for labels, spades are spades, blacks are coons, but cheese is also coons. so the whole idea of labelling is fucked from the very start. you bring it up, you own yourself automatically.

Here we go, I'm gonna say some things that may offend people.
Eliza. I belive this topic is called "Help me...". So from the love in our hearts towards you, we tried to help you best we can. But you are in turn saying we are picking on you. This really makes me sad. Because you are a younger sister to me, and saying I am picking on you while I am trying to help, as said before makes me sad. The way that you are currently acting is like a thing I saw on the internet where this dude was rescued from the ocean and put onto a naval ship. The dude was tended to with care, and was given a shower, a good bite to eat etc... The dude asked for a coffee, but he got a tea instead. Then had the hide to go rank on the dude for giving him something else than what he asked. Even though his life was saved.... Eliza, you did say you wanted help. So we tried to give you advice and support (which is still there for you). And you are getting up us for picking on you, because it isnt the stuff you want to hear???
Also, Chris. I respect you a lot yeah? Your very intelligent. But you are also very young in your Christian walk, compared to those like Elliot and I, even with the amount of years. I've been a part of the Christian church for about 15 years now, and I have seen some things and been involved in things that I dare say that noone here has been subject to. So with being exposed to that sort of thing, I gain experience. Which is where an "immature" (in the amount of time) Christian like you Chris has not had as much experience us the likes of Elliot and I. One thing I have been told (about labels) is that of Isiah 53:5

The "cross" that is talked about in that song is often the persecution that Christians get for the label of "Christian". Because it says in 2nd Timothy (I love that book) about being persecuted because of your Christianity. In particular the "holyness" of your Christian walk.

There you go, once again the Bible mentions the importance of the Christian label, and those who choose to "whack the label on"and "fight the Good fight".
Back to the helping Eliza thing. I hope I am not sounding mean here. I really want to help you. But as we all know love isnt always about getting stuff you want. Its also about being smacked deprived of good things because you did something bad, when your parents told you not to do something. I went to AGMF over the weekend, and there was this stall near the mighty Soundmass stand (I love that place, more metal there than a steel factory). I saw this dude look at me, so I went over and decided to take a "good person" test. What I needed to do was put my thumb on this red peice of celophame (sp?) hold for 15 seconds, if it turned green, then I was a good person, if it didn't. Then I was a bad person. Then the guy started asking me questions about have I stolen, lied, lusted etc... Then he told me something I felt bad about. I WAS GOING TO HELL!! (luckily I knew my fate) Then he said something about how you can change from your evil and bad ways (because yes we are bad people Romans 23:3 says so) through the love of Christ and His death for us... And for you that know the best song ever, Coling Buchanan's Baa Baa Doo Baa Baa which is based on Isaiah 53:6

not bad wilkins, first paragraph was basically what i've been trying to get at. i gotta pull out the whole 'experience' thing, though...
jessie tried to pull this one on me, it sucks to be on the end of it regardless of whether it's on the mark. and no-one can say for sure that someone their own age has less experience than them... geoff? sure, more experience. ben's mum? sure. chris? impossible to tell.
wilkins, chris has his head screwed on right... as for eliza, i'm leaving that one altogether. when she wants some answers, me, wilkins, josh, chris are pretty much all ready for it. basically, i tried giving you answers, because i saw you wallowing in exodus, and i thought, 'she needs the gospel'. so, as i have to others in the past, i offered a sammich.

but yeah, i plan to leave the whole eliza thing well alone, i'll pray, and if she wants the sammich she can ask me for it... i tried doing it one way and got nowhere. that's time that could have been better spent... |

I think your post fails. Well parts of it. Noone should be measuring how much or how long you have been a christian for I think its irrelivent. God uses everyone in different ways and guides them. How much you know isn't the most important thing its whether your willing to or not and most of the time new christians are alot more interested and more willing then some of us who have been christians for a long time. Often newer christians read the bible more often then us. Advise just shouldn't be handed out by the ones with more experience thats just like bottlenecking peoples points of views. Everyone has different problems everyone gets them dealed with in different ways.
If Eliza is feeling pushed into something then don't you see you may be doing something wrong and need to take a step back. No need to force anything on to people. If they say no you need to respect that no matter what you believe. You can't just jump in out of nowhere and say you go to youth now!
Eliza I think you should introduce yourself into this slowly and perhaps come to youth to one of the events that has a balanced level of fun and the spiritual side. Just so you feel comfortable and so you don't feel bombarded by how much of a "bad" person you are. Stop pointing out peoples flaws and enjoy the good things about htem. |

I know that Ben. I've had some examples put by Elliot on MSN that has cleared some stuff up. I know people learn faster than others. Chris is a fricken awesome example of this, and putting he has learnt into practice. Some do that better than others... The impressions that I got by Chris's posts were different than what they were saying. Thanks Elliot. But the rest of it still stands.
EDIT: Perhaps we are on different lines of thought??

How can you not agree with that post by Wilkins? Flaming awesome mate .
As for time being a factor in your Christian walk, I think it certainly is a factor, to the extreme. Like I would expect someone who has spent a lifetime studying scripture and preaching and all that stuff would know more than someone who was born again 10 minutes ago if you get my drift?
I don't know if any of you have picked up on the distraction thing from Elliot, but I guess I just have to say stop for a second, forget about eliza, forget about TCP, look around at other people and what they are saying, and sure enough you'll see that some people are just begging someone to ask them about Jesus.
Also agreeing with Elliot in the sense that we offered sandwich, and to agree with wilkins too it just may have turned out that eliza didn't quite like the taste yet, but like we have all said now, I'm sure she will sooner or later . Until then, we have done all that is in our power, and I don't think any of us regret saying what we have because frankly, it needed to be heard, even if it did taste like brussel sprouts and blue vein cheese soup.
