Post subject: I was having a think.... |
|
|
I was lying on my bed last night listening to some pretty intense death metal, Crimson Thorn to be exact, I was thinking about my mates and how much of a blessing they all have been to me over the years, and hopefully will continue to be so for years to come. It also occurred to me that with all the bickering and all the bitching and carryings on, for example the Sam and Shara incident, and the whole love and racism arguments, we are all a tight nit community of good friends. Both of our groups together make a pretty tight nit community. For example, Debbie and I are sworn mortal enemies and are out to get each other and kill each other at any given moment, but we talk and are I believe friends (aren’t we Debbie?) when it comes to the crunch. Also Claire and Josh, they annoy the hell out of each other but are there to help each other (or am I seeing things wrong). We are unique as a group, we really are. Every other group I have seen is just a clone of one another, but not us. We have a pretty wide range of people with a wide range of personalities, attitudes, beliefs and hobbies and whatnot. I find it quite amazing actually how we all do it really, we all bitch and carry on about stuff but when it comes to helping people out of a rut they are in, or lifting people up when something good has happened, we all are there for one another in different ways, and I find that quite cool really. Some of us are really crazy arsed weirdos that love to do stupid things to stuff and with stuff, some of us don’t. Some of us have different theological beliefs than that of others in the group, and the majority of the times we don’t let that get in the way of our friendships.
So seriously, this isn’t a politically correct rant/post at all... I’m just stating something that I feel to be correct. We all have different points of view, different personalities different points of interest, putting all our strengths together and putting all our “weaknesses” together also, lets continue to be a unique bunch of individuals and at the same time lets continue to be a unique group, because we all have been blessed with each other’s company.
Take the whole Vondamba vs. Thoihans debacle. Despite we all having our differences in various things, we all united together as a group for one common cause, and that was backing up our good old’ friend Cheyenne .
If we can all continue to have massive bitchfests (looks at racism topic), and suddenly put that behind us in a dark hour, our group(s) can really continue to grow and mature as individuals and as a group, cause we all have different qualities, and if our various strengths wipe out our various weaknesses, we will all be ok! Also just remember, all arguments we have should really not be put in the road of our various friendships
Well that’s the way I see it… What about you? What do you think about our group(s)?
While I am at it, I would like to make a list of thanks to people on this forum and thank them for different stuff they’ve helped me with.
Adam: Well man, over the couple of years I’ve known ya, we’ve had a lot of arguments and stuff, but gosh you have helped me a lot, when I have felt alone and helpless, I’ve always fanged for the after school walk home when we can talk about stuff. Man, you have helped me a lot, I can’t say that I love you, but I really dig having you as a mate… Thanks man.
Shane: I’ve known you for fricken years, we’ve had our differences, and I have never quite fully understood you lol, but I have also digged your friendship over these past years, especially in the rare occasion when I was about to burst out in tears due to the crappiness of school and other bullshit, your awesome stupidity and randomness helped me a lot in that time with a simple “I love you” lol… Thanks man for helping me and for being a good mate.
Ryan: Man, you have given me some of my worst times in primary school, and indeed some of my best. From playing Ninja Turtles in my tree, to playing Double Dragon on my NES to grinding me like a surfboard, those memories will live with me until the day I kick the bucket so to speak . You have been an awesome friend, an inspiration to me, particularly with the way you have bounced back from the unfortunate passing of your awesome father (sorry if I said anything bad). You’ve helped me also a lot, taught me a few things… Thanks man
Debbie: thanks for things you’ve helped me with, when I was going through an “emotional” patch after breaking up with Becky, you bought me back to reality, and that I can not thank you enough for, if you didn’t I still might like her to this very day. Thank you. Also thank you for “letting” me take my frustrations out on you with all of those MSN abuses, I’m kidding... I’m actually sorry about that. But thankyou for the things you’ve helped me with, and just when I need a girl’s perspective on things, I turn to you… Thanks.
Elliot: Simple thankyou here… Thanks for being a complete weird arse in maths during the school year, and thanks for the stupid comments about Mormons, Catholics, Jews, and thermite to make me laugh my arse off during a serious situation. It means a lot.
Ben: Hey man, your family is like an adopted family to me when my parents split. It may seem (maybe) that I come over your house to chew your downloads, but in reality, your house is like a home away from home, your family and you are awesome, and I can not thank you enough for the way you have accepted me and let me into your home and treated me like a family member, it is greatly appreciated, because the rest of my family, aunties, grandparents, and whatnot have all rejected my parents and my brothers and I. You and your family have at times made me feel more comfortable at your home more so than at my own… Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Griffin: Your family is also like an adopted family to me. Just coming to your place when times were crap at mine, playing cricket with you and suffering your putrid farts are memories that I will cherish for the rest of my days, thanks for being laid back when I was tense, thanks for being like a brother and your family like a family of mine.
Chris: Well, being a rational head when things are rather irrational is always good. When my MSN was down, you tried helping me, and knowing how much I love MSN, your help meant a lot to me. Thanks at camp, you are a complete yobbo with me, and thanks for talking cricket with me lol... Thanks man.
Walters: Sitting over in the “I’m over it corner” talking to you has helped me greatly. You listen to me, you, to a certain degree understand me. When things get to be “over my head”, you are there to laugh with and just screw around with. Although I may act a complete arse to you, your friendship has been a blessing to me, and I can not thank you enough for it… It means a lot
Cheyenne: Thanks for opening up the trees in the front yard to me, thanks for the Beastie Boys CD, and thanks for being an inspiration to me when it comes to being different. The way you carry the “alternate energy” flag for the rest of us, the way you carry it with such pride an dignity lol, is an inspiration to me, and the “odd” occasion where we have had a deep and meaningful convocation, I have learnt from it.. Thank you.
Claire: We have fought, bickered and carried on, but you are an inspiration to me, you really are. The way you handle everything… Academic stuff, social stuff and the rest of it, and remain to a certain degree cool is really good.. I am sorry for the insults I’ve thrown your way over the years, and thanks for helping me when I was in a crappy moment, particularly the whole Ancient History + flash drive dying debacle… You helped a lot... Thank you _________________

i... don't know what to say. awesome read, wilkins. well done.
i'm glad to see someone, instead of bitching about people and the things they do, bringing up all the positives. now i think about it, when you boil down a peron's personality, you almost always end up with more positives.
now i haven't been in the group for long, i don't know much of the history there, but with all my whinging about the hate that's there, it's pretty much only ever a dormant hate, overwhelmed by more powerful feelings of respect, admiration, and dare i say it, love. |

Wow Matt, that was amazing....
Its been far too long since someones opened up like that. You truley are one of the few nice blokes left out there. Your one in a million.
Its just been so long since I've seen someone to damn positive! Its just beautiful! There's not better way to describe our group. We're a bunch of odd characters and all so very different. But the thing that keeps us together is that we'll always support and be there for eachother.
From the early days in primary school from surfing you, being an absolute loon with you at the camps... to the current days of lying on the floor with you in a BCT exam, having rubber johnny, and just last week talking about NES on the ferry with you... Wilkins you snugglecunt, it's been an absolute honor to have you as a friend. Your just an amazing, amazing person... and don't you DARE let anyone tell you otherwise!
That got my vote for Thoih post of the year. _________________ You used to be like my twin |

Aw that's lovely.
You have a really good personality trait there - to appreciate and respect differences in people.
That was a joy to read.
Well done champ. _________________

Damn fwucken straight, the way you have explained our group is simply amazing, I'm really honoured to have you as such a great mate. To tell the truth I always look forward to the afternoon walk home with you then saying hello to mum in the car explaining why we're so late (tell her i said hi). Damn straight we've had a lot of arguments you half witted *****, but if those have proved anything its that a great friendship will always pull through, thick and thins.
Wish I could have said a little more on the phone, but i'll get flamed already for making a mobile call . Honestly you've helped me too, even those dim-witted comments are really something because they are infact blunt realities, which one must realise (only sometimes). You're one of the most down to earth blokes I know and i'm truely grateful to have you as such a great friend and/or (lol at that) person to talk to when I'm down.
I can't say how much more I respect you now after that amazing post, keep up your dedicated whatever it is you have ... dont stop talking to randoms either, enjoy FMR.
Seriously, thanks for sticking by me. _________________

hmmm, i wish i was someone's adopted family. we're far to unbalanced though.
i was a bit sad that penny+elle didn't get a mention. they're good fun. and they love God heaps. for weeks, after mugby was called off, they were the only reason i was attracted to that group... its pretty hard to find the two of them together without on having a big silly grin. i dunno... they're just all-round genuinely happy people i suppose, i'm attracted to happiness.
on the topic of mugby, i reckon we could throw something together, getting permission off of parents to do it. then the school has no authority to tell us not to. |

*Disclaimer* This maybe a bit self centred
Well I was having another think during Full Metal Racket after Adam gave me a phone call saying thanks for the post I made the other day, and thanking me for making peoples’ evening, that I was really touched by . During me listening to Full Metal Racket and writing lyrics, I was thinking about our group and the people in it, and it was quite interesting to note some of the thoughts that I was having. Do any of the people in our group have any specific roles? I mean that by well look, we have our tech-heads/nerds in Ben and Chris (to a certain extent Ryan and Nielsen), and we have people that contribute ideas and certain “cultural” fads like musical stuff, people like Josh, Shane, Adam and Walters. Then you got the wrestlers and stuff in Kenny and that other dude.
All of this got me thinking, there are some of us in this group, like me that really contribute (I don’t know) nothing to the group. It may seem really silly to think this, but I guess it is a “me me me, pity me” sort of thing, but obviously obtaining no technological know how, cultural know how, or indeed any other sort of know how. Am I plain stupid, do I not just see, is it right in front of me? Then I had another thought, is it my role in the group the be the stupid weirdo that is completely half witted? I got no idea
I guess in long way terms I am asking… What on earth do I contribute to the success of our group? I guess over the course of my life, I have found it hard to fit in anywhere, with anybody. To tell you the truth there are times that I feel kinda isolated even around you guys. I have no girlfriend, the whole music thing is different, I cant go “oh did you hear the latest VC song” It is all a bit weird. That is probably why I asked. Cause materially I have shit all to offer. I can’t say come over and have a LAN at my place. So what do I offer to it all?
It seems really selfish, attention seeking and really “Shara” like (not meaning to start anything here), but it was just a thought process that was running through my head at the current time. But yeah, I would like to know… It is probably that I have to much time on my hands, and let my mind just wander off.

Wilkins, you're the life of the party! You are one of the very very few people who aren't afraid to do anything, dude, you went up to a random car opened the door and asked if the guy had the scores for the ashes! Seriously, you play such a large role in our group. Without you I doubt any of us would be as insane as we are now . I myself feel useless at times, feel that I have absolutely nothing to contribute to our group and i'm just an extra. Its not until we lose a certain person or trait (like we did billy) that we realise how important they are to us.
Take the half-witted thing as a compliment... after all, i'm half sized I have nothing to offer 'matterially' either. I dont do "Lans", "Parties" or even have people stay over, I win. In a sense, what i'm trying to say is dont think about your role, position or relationships within the group because in the end you can convince yourself that you're not doing anyone any good. Which is obviously wrong. Like I said, you're the life of the party, keep it up.
Edit: Always remember, You have a bong, shane has loose pants and I have bark. _________________

think: 'i'm not as worthless as [name]'
when i dropped fiddle lessons, i felt like shit for weeks. i was a fucken zombie. that was always who i was, what i did. i was never really good at anything else. no that i don't do that, i'm not really good at anything.
what i got out of that, however, is that certain people, (me), have alot more to contribute than you realise. |
