We had religion in primary school and it was actually pretty good, it wasn't like church where they stand up and talk about God, it was more about conceptual understanding and relating it to familiar circumstances, bit like maths actually :p .

I understood a lot about God from primary school religion classes, it was pretty much all I had seeing as though we didn't have a bible and never really went to church except for Christmas Day, isn't it weird how people do that?

Church on Christmas Day?

Damn...that must be a bummer... What about the fun stuff... like eating, and swimming, and seeing long lost and probably annoying relatives?

Cool

Why does the Pope change his name when he becomes Pope?

haha, i read this whole thread in one sitting. what a waste of time!

well, there you have it. wilkins glorifies god, and confirms what i've been saying to christian folks since this whole thing started, i'm just obeying. they say to humble yourself before god when you accept christ; i became a servant. none of this, "wow, you're so wise" rubbish, just cause i'm obeying. that's not even mine anyway! and about me and norman witnessing to jay, from where i stood, it was an act of charity. like giving a sammich to a starving cripple. i saw she was hungry, so i offered her a sammich as the lord says to. turns out she was so hungry she didn't even realise how much she needed it.

i say that anyone who further brings up catholicism should be hanged, its a pointless topic, like M-theory. haha, stupid physicists, arguing all day, nothing to show for it!

it should be noted that wilkins is alot cleverer than people give him credit (or insults) for. doesn't matter anyway, he's alot stronger than that too.

Sure, your God may 'tell' you to charitise (sp?) to the needy, i.e. Alex, but what if she didn't want your 'sammich', what if she was dead against taking your 'sammich', what would you do about that? Would you forcefully hand her the 'sammich' so she could have it later or would you respect that she really isn't 'hungry' and move on, knowing that you aren't doing what your God wants you to?

This is a question, more so than an arguement, so please answer 'goodly' Smile

Thanks Folks.

*Double Post*...

Well it is unlocked and it's going no where... what should I say? I recall someone saying that threads are specifically targetted for a certain someone in order to attack their beliefs maliciously. There isnt' really anything to talk about. Unless anyone thinks differently?

Most of the conflict at the moment is created by Adam locking things...

Not all of these are aimed at people, some of the forums (ie the buddhism ones) do serve a purpose, people do want to know and I haven't seen anyone offended yet.

everyone has 20/20 hindsight, adam... if i had known that jay would react so badly to about a dozen of my words - (it went something like this)

me: well, jay, i think there's alot of stuff in your life that would be worth getting rid of...
her: like what?
me: (indicating the mark of the beast, pentagrams, etc scrawled all over her bag)
her: who cares?
me: i care... god cares.
her: (tantrum)

- i wouldn't have approached her. not only does she now avoid all contact with me, she, if anything, is further away from christ... you know what else? i want to apologise to her. yeah, i'm sorry that you and i have different views of right and wrong.

i don't think i forced anything. i was TRYING to warn her about what i believe she has in store, check out luke 16:19-31. especially verse 31. i talked to jay about god, i've done my job. its up to her now, when she realises that her life, her happiness, and all her dreams are hollow, then the opportunity to start where we left off is still there.

I dont know where a Bible is at the moment.... But, I'll make and effort to find it...

Oh, I see what you're trying to do to Alex. I dont disagree with it in the slightest, I really think it's a good thing if anything. Broadening her horizons I guess. But yeah, I understand how strongly people feel about religions and stuff. But yeah, I guess your God "tells" you to do so, so heck, why not. But yeah, I guess you just have to accept when a person really doesn't want it I guess.

But whatever makes you happy.
