well... i suppose i have accepted that she doesn't want to listen. what i won't accept is her making such a big deal out of about 30 seconds worth of conversation, nearly two months later. i watched BONANZA yesterday, the bad guy was being bad, he said, "heh-heh-heh, i shot a preacher once..."
to which the good guy says, "why'd you do that?"
"for preaching at me! heh-heh-heh!"
turns out the bad guy got hanged, so i laughed at jay.

now i am sad.

edit: 15 pages... religion... i want gift horse, he was fun. i oughta email him sometime.

lololol Confused

See the whole thing that happened with Jaala was what I was trying to avoid with the lunchtime prayer groups, remember when I spoke up and Norman got angry at me and started lecturing me on being up myself?

me n chris reckon it would be awesome to bring back hanging... it would cut down crime and give us honest folks something to do. instead of dinner and a movie, you could take her to an action-packed hanging! none of this new-fangled moving picture theatre claptrap...

Yeah the only reason we have crap like movies and stuff is cause they got rid of all the executions and hangings and all that fun stuff.

i had a think about the whole "Jaala's sammich" debacle last night... i never really went into the sammich metaphor deep enough.

alright, say there's a starving patient in an institution. the institution is The World, post Fall. the staff of the institution have all been issued orders to destroy the starving patient, though they cannot lay upon him with physical attack.

so they lie to him from his admittance, telling him that he doesn't need to eat to survive. that he can live a perfectly good life on supplements, imitations of real food. the patient, only ever knowing this lie, accepts it as truth, just as a sufferer of chronic depression accepts their condition as justifiable, though that's a different metaphor altogether. the patient ignores the fact that he is wasting away, that his own body (the spirit) cries out to him in pain, trusting his own life to the staff, expert liars bent on his pain.

the world tells people that they don't need God. they're told this from the very beginning, unless raised in a christian environment they never hear or give much thought to anything else. or maybe the world tells them that they already have God...

Jaala never realised she was, is, wasting away from spiritual malnutrition, and because the world has told her for so long that she can survive without the sammich that me n norman offered her, she rejected it, not just rejecting it, but becoming bitter that we'd even suggest that her current diet is not enough...

there you have it... i'd like to hear back about this...

edit, two hours later. i've always had a conviction that there's about as much instruction in everyday life as there is in scripture... so i look up, and a bookmark hanging on the clipboard besides the desk says this. "the wise man reads both books and life itself." - Lin Yutang, Saint.

I agree with the hanging.
On occasions, the head and spinal column would be the only thing the rope is holding onto.
The body would tear at the neck and would be in the dirt, maybe possibly the water, or kindegarden.

This is one the best threads we have Very Happy

Well after reading through most of this thread again... this was a very good a very lol thread filled with nonsense about bin day and some serious religious progress for everyone. Claire became a Budhist! Yay!

But really after looking at some of the old stuff that i posted on here that was disrespectful to christianity, I would like to apologise to everyone that i offended and apologise for not knowing what i was talking about... If it wasn't midnight i would copy paste and flame myself and answer some questions. But in short im sorry for being such a twit on here about religion.

All of the other funny nonsensical stuff still stands.

also, to repeat from that guy that yelled at geoff while he was doing the sign,
Quote:
You know they only want your money!!!

yeahyeah, eternity is a schmuck compared to thirty pieces of silver, thank you innately-profound-yelling-guy...

but yeah, today in drama, for those who know the movie paradise road, just when the japs were about to set that woman on fire i decided i didn't need to see this movie, so i put on some muzak (worship) to block out the screaming, head resting on the desk, and thought. thought about how good god has been to me, thought about my good friends, wilkins, penny, norman, josh, shane... about chris getting saved and the huge party they threw in heaven when it happened... about how far i've come. going over old memories, great memories. before long, maybe the end of that first tune, i'd prayed for everything that came to mind, given thanks for everything else, and gotten a little bit teary.

i'd put money down that i was the only one to walk out of that lesson smiling, and what a smile it was.
